I found the meaning of Two Bob...

People in The Gambia like listening music especially reggae. I can say they enjoy the life. Most of the population is Muslim where as they celebrate Christmas all together with the minorities. Evenings reggae music surrounds all the pubs. Just like Amsterdam people walk smoking marijuana. Even though it’s forbidden Nobody bothers. On our way to Albreda I asked the driver ‘Omar’ whether he knew what 2bob was. He explained that to me :

‘When the first British Forces came for the slaves they paid the slaves’ family 2bobs as a kind of compensation. Everybody wanted to become a slave to have a better life those days’ he said. ‘So whenever the people saw a white man they started to call them two bob. After so many years bobs turn in to pounds but white men have still being called as two bobs.’
