What is TWO BOB?

When I was at the small streets of the UK’s ex-colony Gambia, not only the small children but also some of the people were calling me as ‘two bob’. But what was two Bob? Why were they calling me like that. However I felt myself like a pop-star walking at the shopping mall and signing his CD’s for the fans. Such an enormous attention for being a minority has never made me such happy before. I had to find out why they were calling me as ‘TWO BOB’. Asking couple of locals, I decided to search it on the internet. ‘The world biggest library’ the internet consists lots of information as a result it wasn’t a big deal to search for a phrase of two words. (At least I thought so!) Clicking google brought me in to the middle of a real chaos 'millions of web pages'. Bob must be the World one of the most used names.

were just some of the unnecessary information I came across. At the page of 47 on the Google I found an explanation that was clarifying ‘two bob’.

Two-Bob

'Two-Bob' In former times two bob was two shillings,since a bob was a shilling. The coin worth two bob was called a florin. This coin was almost identical size to the modern twenty cent piece, brought in with the change over to decimel currency in 1966, and which is also still known as two-bob.
Something worth two-bob was pretty cheap and thus we get the phrase 'to go like a two bob watch' which means to work or perform badly.Clearly Watches in this price range were not very reliable. Amongst lairs there was the two bob lair, a two bob boss is a petty official.

The children of the Gambia were they asking me for money then? What about the people? Were they only indulging me for money? I think so… But wait a minute why are they still asking two bob? Why not € or $. I should find the answer on my question but I couldn’t ...
